World Cup Qualifiers: Cameroon hold Nigeria to 1-1 draw in Yaounde


Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Monday night held the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a 1-all daw.

The 2018 World Cup qualifier was played at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo in Cameroon.

Recall that the Super Eagles won the first leg in Uyo last Friday by 4-0.


Nigeria took the leader through Moses Simeon who scored in the 30th minute.

The Belgian based forward took advantage of a poor clearance to beat goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa.

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi was substituted.

Ndubuisi Agu was brought in at the 64th minute to replace the midfielder.

Victor Moses hit the woodwork in the 67th minute.

Nigeria made a second substitution as Kelechi Iheanacho was brought in the 79th minute for Odion Ighalo.

The Super Eagles later conceded a penalty kick.

Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa ran out of his line to challenge Djoum Arnaud recklessly.

Vincent Aboubakar converted the kick in the 75th Minute.
