Presidential aspirant Olasubomi Okeowo lost his senses on a TV show but Nigerians thought him how to have it back

Because we’re black, it is impossible to think that we can produce anything, not even the tiniest of things. Those were the ideas of a Presidential aspirant in Nigeria.

Yes, if you’re wondering how possible this is, one thing you can be sure of, is that this actually happened. His name is Olasubomi Okeowo and he wants to be president of Nigeria.

On Sunday, 19th August, 2018, Olasubomi Okeowo made his way to “On the Couch”, a web series hosted by Falz and Laila. This web series has hosted a host of other political office aspirants including Fela Durotoye, but one thing appeared to be wrong with this one. Okeowo who was supposed to roll out his plans for Nigeria and give people reasons to vote him, instead started making jaw dropping statements that sounded meaningless.

When asked what he’d do to ensure Nigeria goes from being a consumption country to a producing one, he said it is totally impossible for us black people to produce anything.

“What can we possibly produce? Basically, there’s nothing we can produce, we are black people. I’m sorry to say that; we’re not wired that way.”

He went on to say there’s no way Falz, if given $100,000 will be able to produce the glasses he’s wearing. “Your brain can’t comprehend it,” he says.

The strange thing here is not just what he said but the way he said it. He looked all serious about it.

For some minutes there Okeowo lost his senses. That tiny fibre that keeps us together, that inhibits us when we want to go astray. That little piece of understanding we have with our personality. Yes you guessed right.

Oluwasubomi Okeowo lost it, but thank goodness he was able to get it back, after Nigerians had whipped his ass on social media of course.

Reacting to the backlash that came with his declaration, Okeowo posted screenshots of Instagram using supporting his statement and said:

Maybe we should see things from another perspective. As much as I and my campaign team have not called any Nigerian unproductive or say that the black man cannot produce anything, myself have only said invariably we should focus on our strength and come together as a people to resolve our needs. If anyone is angered, let them turn the anger into productivity and show us all it can be done. As much as I don’t lay claim to know it all, I will Honorably stand down to allow a more qualified candidate go for the post. I regret any speech that may sound derogatory and want to use this opportunity to wish Nigeria and Nigerians well.

Never will I look down on my people as unproductive. But I have felt the pains of Nigerians youth now and I felt their pulses also. Now that I know what we need to do, I and my team will swing into action to focus our energy on production. Long live Nigeria

Since Okeowo established that Nigerians are not wired to produce, he’s been dragged through series of things that Nigerians can produce and one of them is how to have your sense back. Yes Nigerians gave him his sense back.
