Cross River State to decongest Lagos by developing Bakassi Deep Seaport

The Chairman of Bakassi Deep Seaport, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, has said that the Supreme Court validation of the election of the Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, will pave the way for the rapid development of the seaport project.

Ita-Giwa, in a statement endorsed by the members of the seaport’s board, in Calabar, on Tuesday, noted that the victory would give the governor the time to focus more on governance.

While calling on residents to work for the progress and development of the state, Ita-Giwa stressed that the legal tussle had since May 29, 2015 been a major distraction to the governor.

The statement read in part, “On behalf of the members of the board, I urge the people of Cross River to support the governor in his quest to develop the state. The Supreme Court ruling marks the end of the legal tussle that has trailed the governor since his assumption of office.

“The victory will now afford the governor the opportunity to develop the deep seaport, which is one of his signature projects. He will now concentrate on other projects as there will no longer be distractions.”

She said that the governor had shown the zeal to deliver on all his electoral promises, adding that all hands should be on deck to give him the needed support.
