After Cavaliers painful loss to Golden State Warriors in the NBA season there have been talks about top players leaving to try other teams out and a major name set to leave was LeBron James.
But just recently another player has hinted he might not be a part of Cavs next season, Kevin Love was earlier asked last two months about his future as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. “It could be my last run, too, so you just never know,” Love told ESPN at the time. “The unknown is something that you try to just put out of your hands for a certain amount of time. But, just go out there and lose yourself in it and everything will fall where it needs to.”
After a fourth-straight Finals run, Love and the Cavaliers were unable to get by the Golden State Warriors once again.
After averaging 17.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in 59 games during the regular season for Cleveland, Love was named an All-Star and shot an impressive 41.5 percent from three-point range. But in the playoffs, his scoring numbers dipped as he put up 14.9 points on 34.0 percent three-point shooting.
Considering the fact that Love has been involved in a number of trade rumors ever since he ended up in Cleveland and was offered in a deal for Paul George last June, his future in Cleveland is seemingly uncertain, especially if LeBron James decides to decline his player option and sign elsewhere in free agency.
But, as indicated on Wednesday, the team will seemingly move forward with Love regardless of LeBron’s decision.
“The Cavaliers are not actively shopping All-Star forward Kevin Love heading into Thursday’s NBA draft, multiple sources told ESPN on Wednesday,” reported Dave McMenamin. “Furthermore, regardless of what decision LeBron James makes about his future in Cleveland, the Cavs have interest in keeping Love next season, sources said.”
“Obviously, I’d love to play with LeBron the rest of my career, but that will be a choice that he makes,” Love said. “Anything is possible. People have been saying that for the past four years. I knew that question would come. But I like to be here. I’ve always said that. Always wanted to win here.”
