The 48th Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association will be held in OWERRI, IMO STATE, NIGERIA, from 18TH – 26TH OCTOBER 2017.
Delegates from 18 Branches and 44 Sub-National Branches are expected to attend and participate.
The Conference will be preceded by the Meetings of Sub Committees of Programme and Planning (PPF), Regional Representatives (RR) and Steering Committee of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP).
In a press release exclusively obtained by Ifeanyicy.com, the Executive Committee will meet to consider reports of the Sub Committees and prepare agenda items for the Annual General Meeting.
The Annual Conference of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) (Business Meeting) and Regional Society of Clerks at the Table will be held alongside the 48th CPA (Africa Region) Conference. Parliamentarians of the Africa Region of the Commonwealth, will deliberate on a number of issues pertaining to the affairs of the region and will also share experience on gender mapping Africa’s Agenda for 2063, as well as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Africa ready for a Common Market and Single Customs and Monetary Union.
Other topical issues of concern will be Parliamentary Agenda for peace and conflict resolution and development Agenda of new security architecture by the year 2020, as well as resource mobilization for funding the Agenda 2063 to mitigate programmes and projects.
The Conference will be flagged off by the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
