1. Reverting workers salary to 100%

The present Rochas Okorocha led government after probably considering the economy of Nigeria decided to cut the salaries of civil servants in Imo State to 60-70% to be able to continue to run the government. That decision didn’t seat well with Imolites. Many criticised the government and labeled it inadequate. That also saw poverty creep into many Imo families.

However, the incoming governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, will most likely reverse that decision and pay civil servants their due wage of 100%. That will definitely earn him some favor before the Imolites.

2. Pay pensioners

Their is a raging war between Rochas Okorocha and Pensioners in Imo State because of the issue of non-payment of pensions to pensioners. One narrative has it that their are more ghost pensioners than actual ones, and as such the government cannot afford to pay them, hence the reason why it put a hold in the payment of such arrears.

Another narrative is that the money meant for pensioners has been used by the government for its selfish reasons. Whatever the case is, clearing the arrears of pensioners in the state will definitely make Emeka Ihedioha more popular and loved across Imo state.

3. Removal or sustenance of free education up to University level

In Imo state, their is free education for Imolites up to university level. Yes, Governor Rochas Okorocha actually made that happen, and many have benefited from it.

However, there’s a very strong opinion that education in Imo State is instead tuition-free and not entirely free, and  that the education offered is not qualitative.

Settling this issue will be beneficial to Imolites so incoming governor, Emeka Ihedioha can either make education in the state qualitative and make Imolites pay for it, or make it qualitative and entirely free.

This will earn him the respect of the citizens.

There you have it. 3 key things Emeka Ihedioha may possibly do as new Imo Governor.
