It’s official guys, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has just tied the knot with new bride Shilekunola Moronke Naom.

He posted on his Instagram page yesterday announcing the arrival of the new bride.

Such excitement!
As a traditional ruler of the Yoruba nation, the Ooni is rooted in tradition and is concerned with any and everything that concerns tradition, including the trational religion. But on his Instagram page as he announced the arrival of his new bride, he mentioned the fear of God.

You may be wondering, though, why a traditional ruler and traditionalist would be talking about the fear of God that way. Could the Ooni be referring to his traditional gods in this context? Or is he about to convert to Christianity? The new bride is reportedly a christian evangelist and prophetess. Did the Ooni not know about this before he declared his intentions to marry her? Hardly.

Cool Fm OAP and a heavy critic of religion, Daddy Freeze, while congratulating the Ooni and his Prophetess bride, wondered how many “alters” will now exist in the palace with the Ooni as a traditionalist having a prophetess as a queen.

In an Instagram post, Freeze wrote, “Congratulations to the couple as the prophetess gets married to the igbakeji orisa. “So how many alters are there going to be in the palace now? Just asking.’’

Christians do not believe in any other God than theirs and Ooni’s new bride knows this very well. So by marrying a traditionalist, is she now going to convert to traditional religious ways?

Those are definitely valid questions.

We do not know how the Ooni, is planning to reconcile this, but here’s what we know. Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has been known to believe that there is only one god in charge of the universe, and whether you are a christian, Muslim or traditionalist, you’re serving that god.

He believes that one God created everything in the universe and that is most likely the God he reffered to on his Instagram page while welcoming his new wife. This means a lot of things, one of them being that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, can take a wife from any religion he pleases as long as the wife accepts to be his bride.

We’re jealous now. Well, Congratulations are in order to the liberal minded King.
