The First Lady and Secretary for Women’s Affairs for the ruling party in Zimbabwe Grace Mugabe has challenged her husband Robert Mugabe to name his successor.
According to Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, she said this at the Zanu PF Women’s League National Assembly.
She said that this is the trend in other countries, and will enable all members of the party to rally behind one candidate.
She cited the biblical story of Adonija who organised a feast to crown himself because his father the king was sick.
She said the President’s word is final, and he has a right to be involved in the naming of his successor.
She also took a dig at people she claimed had “no respect for seniors in the party.”
Robert Mugabe has been the President of Zimbabwe for over three decades.
