Femi Fani-Kayode, a huge opposition the Buhari led administration has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on his announcement of June 12 as the new Democracy Day in Nigeria to honor the late MKO Abiola who supposedly won the Presidential election on June 12, 1993 but was denied of it.
On his Twitter handle Fani-Kayode wrote “I commend @MBuhari for announcing June 12th as our new Democracy Day.
“This is long overdue and I am pleasantly surprised. I also commend him for honoring Chief MKO Abiola, the winner of the June 12th 1993 presidential election, with the posthumous award of GCON. This is great news!”
Reactions have been pouring from Nigerians since the announcement was made with many applauding it and others criticizing it.
