Sometime last week, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Muhammad as Special Assistant, Fulani Affairs, to represent Miyetti-Allah in his administration.
The appointment is a brand new accolade to the Fulani herdsmen especially in this season of receiving and deserving accolades in Nigeria.
If you’re wondering how, of all people, the Fulani herdsmen got an accolade, here’s how: they made trouble. Were bent on making troubles and a made a lot more trouble. They were very terrible, are still very terrible and do not care if there’s a law.
The Fulani herdsmen are responsible for the massacre of over 70 Nigerian citizens in Benue State sometime in February, 2018 for which a mass burial was conducted. They are responsible for several deaths in Jos, Enugu, Ebonyi of farmers and villagers and just yesterday attacked a Catholic Church in Benue State again killing two Catholic priests and a host others.
Now, like a certain President in America says, Nigeria is a shitty country. It cares little, sometimes doesn’t care at all about the welfare of its citizens. The enforcement of law and order has been reduced to the lowest level and the distinction between right and wrong is almost gone.
Instead of focusing on reinforcing the law, a certain Governor in Kwara state thinks appointing a special adviser on Fulani herdsmen affairs is the way to go.
But Will this accolades help control the Herdsmen-farmers clashes?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
