14-Year-Old American Becomes Youngest Girls Champion in 24 Years

Cori “Coco” Gauff became the youngest woman to win the junior title at Roland Garros since 1994 with a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1) victory over Caty McNally.

Gauff at 14 years and two months old becomes the fifth-youngest to win the title in the history of the French Open.

According to Tennis, since 2015 she has been training with Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena Williams’ coach to improve her work on the clay court.

She is the daughter of Corey Gauff, a former basketball player at Georgia State University, and Candi Gauff, a former track star and gymnast.
